This is the story of a little girl who is adopted as a baby and grows up with aspirations of becoming a singer. She struggles with pleasing her parents while living the life she wants- one where she is free to love whoever she wants. It is a great story about acceptance, love, and doing what is right for you regardless of what the world wants from you. I loved that the main character, Kim, decided to live out her dreams while she was young rather than wait until retirement age, like her parents. It was a great reminder to me that life does not always go the way we want it and we need to take advantage of the time we have with our loved ones while they are still here with us.
This book started out a little slow for me but picked up speed about halfway through. I initially thought this was fiction but once I figured out it was pretty much an autobiography, I understood it a little better. It was an interesting read. I did enjoy the second half of the book and the ending especially.
